Keep every category and location page earning
A directory is a grid of category and location pages built from one or two templates. When one of those templates breaks, thousands of pages break with it. We watch the templates and tell you which change hurt which pages.
Templates First
Crawls are grouped and sampled by URL template, so findings are reported per page type.
Thin and Duplicate Pages
The crawl flags thin and duplicate content, which directory templates produce when a location has few listings.
Near-Wins
Location pages ranking just off the top results, ranked by the clicks they could add.
The signals a directory depends on
Directory pages are cheap to generate and easy for a search engine to ignore. Canonicals, noindex rules, internal links and sitemaps decide which of them get indexed, and a template change can flip all of them at once.
- Canonical and noindex changes on templates
- Orphan pages and pages buried deep in the link graph
- Duplicate titles and descriptions across locations
- Sitemap coverage of your category and location pages
